Goals regarding IT stuff

Home Network

Currently I have plans to run ethernet cables through my house but it seems that school work and a fulltime job has been keeping me getting enough free time to do it. That really isn't all I'm planning on doing. Setting up my own home internet and securing it as much as I can it what I plan on doing. This is involves using my own router, and not one that you just buy off the store. I mean getting a separate device that will be dedicated to be as a router. While I do have the device already, I just need to set up the firewall software and hook it up to the modem. Once I get that done I'll remove this really.

Self-hosting Environment

In the home page I explained that I was suing docker to host some of my servers/services. There are other stuff I want to try out. One of them is possibly some sort of cloud storage for photos, because let's be honest at one point my apple cloud storage is gonna run out. Another service I want to run with docker would be an IoT server or, in other words, a smart home server. I've already tried this before when I used to live with my parents. Nothing too big, just had a couple motion sensors, smart plugs, and smart lights. Once I get the proper IoT devices for my home, I'll defintely star messing around with Homeassistant again.

Coding/Programming

As of right now I am only somewhat familiar with writing HTML, I guess to me that's like sort of the basic of coding related stuff. I could be wrong tho ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I will say, during high school I have worked with some basic coding to use with small robots and stuff. Couple years later I satrted messing wiht that stuff again but with arduinos. I should really start some of this stuff that I messed around with before again because it was fun learning to code with micro controllers. Controlling small motors, and LEDs and just all other kinds of stuff. I think I just like that sort of stuff because it involves math a lot of times depending if you try to control values or not. A lot of people I know say they don't like math, but I personally enjoyed it.

I think I'll start like a checklist once I learn how to make that with HTML. So far I'm newbie at this so it'll take some time.
